چکیده

We conducted a vertical seismic profile (VSP) in the borehole of International Ocean Discovery Program/International Continental Scientific Drilling Program Expedition 364 Site M0077 to better understand nature reflectivity and situ properties associated with Chicxulub impact structure peak ring. Extraction up-going wavefield from VSP shows that strong reflection event imaged data results discontinuities elastic impedance Z (the product density wave speed) at top bottom zone hydrothermally altered melt-bearing polymict breccia (suevite) are characterized by anomalously low Z. Below this carbonate/suevite event, upgoing is chaotic, indicating high levels scattering suevites underlying melt rocks shocked granitoids ring, contrast clear coherent reflections throughout overlying Cenozoic sediments. extract shear speeds, which, together those provided complementary sonic log densities core scanning, allowed determination VP/VS Poisson's ratio v. Scaling and Seismic Reflectivity: Implications of Scaling on Avo

AVO analysis of seismic data is based on the assumption that transitions in the earth consist of jump discontinuities only. The generalization of this type of transition to a more realistic class of transitions shows a drastic change in observed AVO behavior, especially for the large angles currently attained by increasing cable lengths. We propose a simple approach that accounts for this anoma...

Seismic Waves in a Borehole - a Review

The propagation of seismic waves in an open borehole is reviewed. The principal wave types are the refracted P and S waves and the two guided waves pseudo-Rayleigh and Stoneley. The dispersion properties of the gUided waves are analyzed. An efficient method of computing synthetic microseismograms is described. The relative effects of the borehole. fluid and formation properties on the propagati...

Cased Borehole Effect on Downhole Seismic Measurements

Approximate and exact formulations are presented for the interaction of an incident wave with a cased borehole. In the approximate method, the borehole coupling theory is used to compute pressure in the fluid at a low frequency. The results are simple and explicit. They are useful in the study of cased borehole coupling and as well as borehole radiation. In the exact method, elastic potentials ...

Structural Health Monitoring and Seismic Impact Assessment

The goals of seismic impact assessment can be achieved by seismic monitoring systems and seismic impact simulator. Seismic monitoring system, for the purpose of hazard analysis, local site effects analysis, vulnerability analysis, and estimation of loss, is one application of SHM in earthquake engineering. A prototype, conceptual seismic impact simulator integrating SHM, FEM, GIS, and Virtual R...

Comparison of seismic and borehole data at the same scale

Well-log measurements and seismic measurements should be compared at the same scale. The conversion of highly detailed borehole data into less detailed seismic data has to be done in a specific way considering conclusions from scaling analysis. One has to be careful with the differentiation to convert borehole acoustic impedance into reflectivity. In addition coarsening has to occur in such a w...
